Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is famous for being home to big herds of elephants among other animals and birds, its scenic beauty, and an amazing view of the highest peak in Africa – mount Kilimanjaro.

The park is located on the north-west side of this beautiful mountain, 240 kilometres from Nairobi via the Nairobi-Arusha road, and 228 kilometres via Nairobi-Mombasa road. The distance between the park and Mombasa is 452 kilometres via Mombasa Road. The park can also be accessed through air as it has an airstrip.

Additionally, as sure as you are that the sun will shine tomorrow, you can be sure to see the Elephants right in their natural habitat engaging in serious elephant business. Other animals that call this park home are buffalo, Hyrax, Dik-dik, giraffe, Zebra, Wild dogs, Crocodile, Mongoose, Lesser Kudu, Nocturnal Porcupine, the big cats, and hundreds of bird species. You can also spare some time to visit the local Maasai community neighbouring the park and experience their rich culture.

The topography in this park constitutes of plains, acacia woodland, swamps and marshes, and rocky thorn bushes. The climate throughout the year is hot and dry with temperatures ranging from 27°C-33°C during the day, and falling to 22°C-24°C at night.

The best times to visit are January to February and also June to September when the rains won’t ruin your experience.
